• Hello,

I select featured images for my posts and pages, but they are never displayed on the published website. In order to display the image, I have to include it in the post/page, but then it is not displayed at the top. And I don’t want to do this, because I will need to delete all these images again once I select a different theme. According to my understanding, such behaviour is against WordPress guidelines. It should display the featured image at the top of the page/post, above the headline, without the need to include it in the text.

    Thank you

  • Hello,

I regret to say I do not follow your question. Can you please share a link to your website?

Also, do you mean if you set a featured image, it’s not displayed? For posts the featured image should be displayed, but we did not have this for the pages yet and this and be fixed by editing the theme file.

    Dear Harish,

thanks for the reply. You are absolutely correct, the mistake was on my side. Featured images are correctly displayed in posts, but not on pages.

You mentioned this can be fixed for the pages…can you tell me how? Can I do this for some, but not for all pages?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi @dillhausen,

    To customize a template effectively:

    1. Choose a suitable template.
    2. Follow this link for guidance: Stack Overflow – Displaying Featured Image in Page.
    3. Customize within a child theme to avoid overrides during parent theme updates.
    4. Only apply the customized template to pages where you want the featured image displayed.

I hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let us know.

    Regards,
    Mej
