  • I do that outside of EM. Events are a type of WP post, so I have a free plugin installed to duplicate any post type – performed through the dashboard, in this case from the list of Events. The plugin adds a prefix and/or a suffix to the original post’s title.

Then I open the duplicate in edit mode, change what needs to be changed (in my case usually the date and the location), Update, return to the dashboard list of Events, and change the Title of this new post, including removing the temporary prefix/suffix.

Duplicate Post – plugin author Enrico Battocchi

    Hello,

You could just go to Events > Events > From the list of events, Hoever to event you want to duplicate. A series of menu would show and you could just press the “Duplicate” button.

    Hi everyone,

sorry @timrv, but I don’t understand. Maybe my English isn’t very good yet. In events list there is no any “Duplicate” button. I don’t know what you mean under “series of menu”. When I hover the event title, it appears only: Edit|Quick edit|Trash|View.

Tim is probably using a duplicator plugin and didn’t realize it.

I use Duplicate Post and it behaves as he describes. I tend to forget it’s running.
It’s a free plugin available through the WordPress dashboard. But here’s their website: https://duplicate-post.lopo.it/

Events manager definitely has the feature to duplicate events out of the box!

You will find this on the “my-events”-website-page. When you press the small “+” next to the list of your events –> that one is duplicating events as well.
But there is also the “duplicate” feature in the backend when I go to the list of events.

Just a quote from the events manager documentation (https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/creating-and-editing-events/): “The events admin page is where you can view all of the events in the system. Bear in mind that the default view is FUTURE events, meaning that some events might be ‘missing’ if they are past events. You can view past or all events by selecting the right scope in the filter pulldown above the events table. From this page you can also go to the events booking page, delete and duplicate events.”

To duplicate an event is definetly a feature of events manager – you do not need any other plugin for this. It works out of the box.
Just have a look at the event manager documentation (https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/creating-and-editing-events/).
Here is what they say: “The events admin page is where you can view all of the events in the system. Bear in mind that the default view is FUTURE events, meaning that some events might be ‘missing’ if they are past events. You can view past or all events by selecting the right scope in the filter pulldown above the events table. From this page you can also go to the events booking page, delete and duplicate events.”

It works from the admin events pages and as well from the websites “My-Events”-Page (click on the small “+” next to the events title in your events list).

    Hello,

    @pferdetermine Thanks for your response.

EM does have a function to duplicate an event. I don’t have any plugin installed on my test server. It’s a fresh WP 5.3 with on EM Free installed. Here’s a screenshot. https://take.ms/NNlzgg, You just need to hover into the event area you want to duplicate and the additional menu would show.

Another location where it shows is when you have set an Edit Events Page under Events > Settings > Pages > Other Pages > Edit Event. Then when you’re on front-end with the list of event it would show a plus (+) which means duplicate.

    https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/creating-and-editing-events/

@timrv, that is exactly what I said.
My response was an answer to @a2withkids, who said that the duplicate feature, that you, @timrv, mentioned is only available via an extra plugin – which ist not correct. That’s why I wrote my comment, to tell @reti that duplicate is definetly a feature of events manager out of the box.
