How to edit MENU links or urls in 3.8.1

  • Hi all,

    This may be simple to some and it was in the previous wordpress 3.0 to 3.6 ish. I am having a rough time trying to edit a MENU link (url). I have existing menus and would like to use them and simply change the link (url) it has to a different link or page. I am trying not to create another menu to do this and maybe I am missing something in doing this change.

    Can anyone help.

  • Appearance>menus>links

    Add the menu item title and the URL.

    When you add that to the menu, delete the old one and reposition them using drag n’ drop.

    For the sack of work flow I cannot take an existing menu option and change its link?

    Is the existing menu item set up in the menu found in Appearance > Menus?

    What I am starting to see and I am not sure if it is set this way on purpose, when i create a menu with a url I can edit that. But if the Menu was already created then i cannot go back and edit that url.

    A little background, I inherited this site along with the menu already being set up. This menus that are already set up I cannot edit the url.

    The only remedy would be to recreate the menus in order to edit the links, I was hoping for a smooth work around but would like know more on and how to manipulate the new menu set up.

    Hello guys. I also have the issue. I build a new website with WP 3.8.1. I have just realised that I’m not able to edit/remove exising menu items. I have activate the screen options for link target, CSS classes, link description and so one. No change!
    Please, help.

    Having the same problem here. I simply need to replace a link in our menu with an external link. Isn’t this possible?

    I found out that yo would need to create a whole new menu list in order to edit any of the links.

    The reason and I cannot find out why any menu(s) created prior specific to the site I was dealing with I could not edit any of those menus especially the menus that was already named and saved. But when I created a new menu list and names I was able to edit this with no issue.

    thanks for your reply! I didn’t want to create a new menu because the site I inherited is a house of cards. There didn’t seem to be a way to do what should be easy except by installing this plug-in https://scottnelle.com/simple-301-redirects-plugin-for-wordpress/ which is so far working well.
