SOLUTION: I found that you can edit a copy of a template page via the THEME EDITOR (in Appearance).

Running the latest version of WP (5.3) with all plugins updated.

    Hi,

I’m confused about how to access and edit a part of a page’s code that shows up neither in:
    – the editors (classic or Guttenberg)
    – nowhere that I can find in the DB

I would normally just go and edit the .php file directly, but in this case I prefer to test my edits on a copy of the page and when I create a copy of the page (via a WP plugin) no new .php file is created (the original page is a template page).

    Thanks for your help!
