• Hi, Can anyone tell me how to edit the footer text on version 3.9.2? I have gone to Appearance and then Editor, but can’t see anything for the footer.php. Any ideas? Thank you!

  • most themes have a footer.php which should be editable from within Appearance and then Editor; some themes use ‘add_action’ to put things into the footer…
however, this depends on the currently used theme much more than on the used WordPress version.

what theme are you using right now?

Usually your theme editor will provide you with an option to edit the Footer text. If not you can manually edit in footer.php under Appearance->Editor. Depends on the theme you are using.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I’m using the Base Theme.

    HI,

If you are not getting footer.php page from Dashboard then you can find this page in –

wp-content -> themes -> your theme folder -> here you will get footer.php file.

Open it and do changes over here.

    Hi CMSHelpLive,

Thanks for your help. I’m sorry, but I am a bit of a novice here. I don’t understand what you mean by wp-content – where is that? I can get to themes by clicking on Appearance then Themes, but is doesn’t allow me go to a Theme folder.

Besides, when I go to footer.php, there is nothing to edit.

Just to explain why I need this, it is because my current footer lists the wrong registered address of the company, which I need to change. This is not the standard footer (e.g. powered by WordPress etc).

Any more ideas will be gratefully accepted!

    Thank you!

    Hi,

When you start working on WordPress, the first step is to install it. After installation you can locate wp-content under htdocs or www -> your WordPress folder
