In the upper-right I have a search box that says “Search website…” – it was put into place early on when I first created the site. Now that I’ve switched to the block editor – do I need to use the Classic Widgets plugin to see and edit this?
    Thank you,
    Tammy

  • Hello @tammyg ,

Using “Classic Widgets” plugins is not necessary since WordPress 5.8 supports older widgets (Legacy Widgets).

Editing these widgets is possible from the WordPress “Widgets” area or the theme’s customizer.

You can also replace this widget with the “Search” block and then restore its look as per your original design with few tweaks.

Thank you, I can now see how I can edit the Legacy Widget & add in my own HTML block in this area if I need to. One problem I’m having on my testing site is that when using the Search block I can’t see the placeholder text, I’m going to have to test this out some more.
    Thanks again.
