• My client at https:///www.tooninanimation.net would like his “Welcome” post to always stay first, on top. He’d like to add blog entries that will fall under this one chronologically. The Blogspot trick of post-dating to 2009 or whatever doesn’t work, as WordPress will hold that entry & not publish it until the that time rolls around.

He can, of course, edit the timestamp for the Welcome post everytime he makes an entry, but this isn’t convenient for him.

Is there a way to ensure that one post always stays on top?

  • This question has been asked and answered countless times here. You are a paid professional. Search the codex here for the WP Loop. You’ll find it there.

Unlike Joni, I never say no, I just charge enough to make it worthwhile.

Cut us in and we’ll hold your hand all you like – otherwise it’s probably a good idea for you to try a little research for a change.

At the very least search the plugins if you can’t be arsed doing it yourself.

PS: making you do it yourself is more help than giving you the answer. You’ll thank us one day.

An easy way to do this is to use my News Announcement plugin that’s basically designed to do this (and more). It’s available from my AWSOM.org website here.

I am not a paid professional and would like to know the answer to that question…

I am just setting up my first site.

    Thank you.

How can you people be so f&*%^ lazy and expect to achieve anything?

You didn’t even read the post above yours, did you?

FYI all you hostile people, I searched these forums for “Keep post on top”, “timestamp”, “keep post above others” and found nothing.

Thanks harknell, I’ll check it out.

I know how you feel. I’m done with this forum. Some of the biggest Dicks I have ever come across.

Holy Cow! This isn’t the WordPress community I remember.

Used to be someone could ask a question and get an answer.

Now evidently if you don’t ask the right question you get lambasted.

Who cares if the question hsd been asked before? The important thing is that it’s being asked.

If you think it’s a stupid question (some say there aren’t any… I think there are.) then DON’T RESPOND… It’s that simple.

If you are going to respond at least put something useful in your reply. It would take less time to post “Do a search for WP-Sticky” then any of the unhelpful responses that have been given to this point.

Seriously… Even if the question is one which has been asked numerous time before, even if the question is one which has been answered many times before REMEMBER that time stamps factor into relevancy in search results. When someone in the future does a search prior to asking the question there is a high liklihood that this result will be returned BEFORE any older ones. SO WOULDN’T IT BE GREAT IF THERE WAS SOME HELPFUL INFORMATION IN THE RESPONSES?

davestolte, nhann, and microjoes I apologize for the “help” you’ve been given to this point.

Do a search for “WP-Sticky” and you should find what you’re looking for.
