How to exclude unwanted visitors with Maintenance Page

I recently installed Maintenance Page and have found that the site is still being visited, not just by the usual bots (google, yahoo, bing) which is alright, but also by some unwanted ‘guests’.
Is it possible, using Maintenance Page, to exclude any such users? Are they able to get into the page by entering more than the usual public URL?
