    Hello,

I am using your plugin on a test site (copy of the live site), and the SQL was not completely copied (too large). The Directory is empty, no listings, no categories, no fees.

I tried to copy the relevant MySQL tables by hand, but there are stil no entries.
There is still something missing…maybe a custom post type…?

I’d love to have an export function from Version 2.2, but unfortunately, there is only an import function there.

Is there any possibility to get the data out of the old version and into the new one? I’d be happy with SQL.

    Thanks!

    Hi @gerdski

Thank you for reaching out about this. I’m Garret from the customer success team and I’m sorry to hear that you’re having a problem here. I’ll be happy to help!

I think you are running into issues here because you are trying to do too big of a jump. When we released version 5.0, it was a major overhaul of the plugin, and there are some important steps along the way that it’s important to capture.

If you have installed the latest version of BD, go ahead and delete that (5.5.2 version) — that is too big of a jump from what you currently have running, which is 3.5.4

Once you’ve deactivated and deleted 5.5.2, download version 3.75 from https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/business-directory-plugin/advanced/ (scroll to bottom of page to find that). You will then install and activate 3.75.

Once that’s done, you need to upgrade to 4.1.15. Follow the same steps above — deactivate and delete 3.75 from the plugins dashboard. Once that’s done, download 4.1.15 from https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/business-directory-plugin/advanced/ (scroll to bottom of page to find that). Install and activate that.

Finally, you will be able to deactivate and delete that version and you can then go from 4.1.15 to 5.5.2.

That should work for you here — it’s a lot of steps, but there were certain changes made to the plugin at various steps that are essential to have implemented, so the steps outlined above should be followed closely. Ideally, the plugin would have been updated regularly so this type of hard work could be avoided. Sometimes people don’t update the plugin because they have made changes to the core files of the plugin, which is not recommended because the changes get lost each time you upgrade.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

    Hello,

    thank you for your reply.
I am currently running Versioon 2.2, not 3.5.4.
Is the described procedure the same in this case?

(Yes, we have not updated for quite a long time, because the customer wanted a lot of changes in the core files. I shall have to merge them into the updated version…)

I think I managed the upgrade.
Problem is now that my Form Fields are all empty…although the corresponding MySQL table is there and filled with data.
    What now?

    Hello,

apologies for my delay. But I manaaged to make an Update now, from 2.2. up to 5.17.1.
I did that with a plugin called “WP-Rollback”, it made it easier to follow the steps you explained.

The Update has worked, but there is an error now. I will specify the error in another thread.

    Thanks ??
