• I’m trying to change the font used for the content of our website, but whenever I go into the Customize tool and make a change, I get this error message: “Looks like something’s gone wrong. Wait a couple seconds, and then try again.”

I wait a few seconds, try again, and get this error message: “The previous set of changes has already been published. Please try saving your current set of changes again.”

I get stuck in this loop of errors and my changes never actually publish. I’ve looked up this issue before but I’ve never fully understood what I need to do to fix it.

    Hoping someone can help.

    Thanks,

    Joe

  • Hello @kbhadmin

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the defaults (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    Thanks

Hi @aezazshekh, I saw this suggestion online actually, I guess i’m a little confused on how to do this. I am able to install plugins, so I can use the health check plugin to disable all plugins and change the theme, and then enable them one by one until the problem occurs again.

What do I do next if I determine which plugin is causing the conflict? Do I just have to disable it whenever I want to make changes using the Customize tool and re-enable it when I’m done?

Just want to make sure I know exactly what to do if I can identify which plugin is causing the problem with the Customize tool.

Thanks so much for your help.

    Hello.

This appears to be a common problem.

I recently updated to WordPress 5.9.3.

Hi @kingharvest9900, did updating to 5.9.3 fix it? or have you found another solution?

So I have tried disabling all the plugins on our site but i’m still getting the error message. I’m unsure what my next steps should be to try and fix this.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Hello. I had already updated WP and I thought that might have been the issue, but I don’t think it was.

After checking plugs in etc I still could not find the issue.

I double checked the site this morning and the main issue (the error message) was gone and the other two issues (not being able to do a back up) was also fixed.

So I don’t what was causing the problems.

I restored all the plugins and did a backup and everything seems to be working as usual.
