How to fix: "Error in the response. We cannot load blog data at this time."
-
Sometimes, even though you’ve entered the right parameters for the shortcode, you’ll see the following error on your site:
Error in the response. We cannot load blog data at this time. Make sure Jetpack is properly connected on the site.
In such cases, try the following:
- Make sure the site you specified in your shortcode parameters is a WordPress.com site, or a self-hosted WordPress site using the Jetpack plugin.
- If the site uses Jetpack, make sure the JSON API module is active.
- Is the JSON API module active? Try changing some of the post parameters you’ve added to the shortcode. Try returning more posts, or from a different date range for example.
- Still nothing? The site’s Jetpack connection to WordPress.com might be compromised. If you have access to the site’s dashboard, follow the instructions below.
Issues with the site’s connection to WordPress.com?
If your site isn’t properly connected to WordPress.com, you can try the following:
- Go the Jetpack menu in your dashboard
- Click on “My Jetpack” at the top of the page.
- Click on “Disconnect Site from WordPress.com” if your site is currently connected to WordPress.com.
- Confirm the disconnection.
- Click on the Connect button to connect your site to WordPress.com again.
If none of this helps, you can use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send the Jetpack support team some information about your site, and ask them to help you understand why the JSON API doesn’t return any posts. Here is how to use the debugger:
- Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
- Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
- Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
- Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
- Click the “Contact Support” button.
