How to fix Serve images in next-gen formats

  • According to Gooogle’s documentation, this means serving images with enhanced formats like PEG 2000, JPEG XR, and WebP (instead of the traditional JPG/PNG).

    Of the three, Google’s own WebP format has the highest compression ratio and widest (but certainly not universal) browser support.

    The easiest way is to use a plugin like WebP Express, which converts your images to WebP format and serves these to browsers that support WebP… while serving the original JPG/PNG images to browsers that don’t support WebP:
