Thank you very much for your plugin @shawfactor,

    Following this thread:

I have several WP posts and pages that include JPG, PNG, MP3 and MP4 files that are linked from external sources. Can your plugin detect these external URLs of these kind of files, download to Media and replace remote URL with local URL of recently downloaded file?

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/download-and-change-remote-media-file-automatically/

Can you please let me know how your plugin works?

I have installed it on a site where I have some posts that include external links that embed JPG, PNG, MP3 and MP4 from remote sites.

Is there any way to “force” the download and replacement of these urls?

    Many thanks!!

Sorry I misunderstood you. This plugin just handles internal objects like images, not stuff linked externally.

I could recode it to handle externals easily enough but

    1. It would be paid work.

    2. The processing would likely fail for large files.

    3. The linked files would need a recognisable file extensions.

    4. Could be resource and storage intensive.

    5. Copyright issues

You probably are not going to find a plugin that does this in the repository as most people don’t need it and issues 2 to 4 make it tricky.

This one will do linked images though from memory, or uses to as it has not been updated for a while. It does not add them to the media library though.

I am resolving this for good order as I do not plan to add the the feature requested to my plugin in the future. I will still monitor this thread
