How to get a home page slider with grid of posts like the sight theme

Hi,

I really like the layout of the ‘sight’ wordpress theme available at: https://wpshower.com/demo/?theme=sight

In particular I want to also have a slider at the top with a grid of posts (including the large thumbnails) below on my homepage similar to how the sight theme is laid out. However, the sight theme has many limitations that unfortunately means I cannot use it. Which theme and/or plugins can I use instead to achieve the same result?

Any help given is greatly appreciated.
