How to get a static domain in address bar

  • Hello, I have a fairly simple question I’m sure…

    let’s say I own website.com domain name, but have it and wordpress hosted on website.host.com… I have the domain forwarded to the host.com’s nameservers, but everytime I click a link on my WP, it takes me to website.host.com/page-id instead of website.com/page-id… How can I change it so my .com is the only domain name showing in the address bar? Thanks!

  • Backup your site, backup your Database, then use the Search and Replace Plugin to change the hard coded URL’s to the proper ones. It is imperative that the included instructions and warnings be heeded and the backups done properly (from your current site) as db string manipulation done wrong will mess your site up.
