How to get filtered results on an alternative search template

Hi,

I’ve noticed that the plugin uses wp core features to filter results e.g https://www.mysite.com/posttype/taxonomy/term this format returns a “404 page not found” on my site. my theme outputs searches like this https://www.mysite.com/search-results/taxonomy/term could this be the reason my filters get 404? If so, how can I resolve this? great plugin by the way.
