How to Get Image Only to Appear in Excerpt

I’ve set up a category on my blog for funny images I’ve created. Each post in this category has an image but no text. The problem is getting each excerpt to accept an image only. I can get the excerpt to accept an image with text, as I’ve done with other categories on my blog, but not without text.
How do I correct this?
