How to get permalink for archive by category and author

  • Hi,

    When looking at the archives by author, I want my sidebar to have the months archives for that author,

    https://example.com/index.php?author=3&m=200509

    I can see how to generate this line by modifying the wordpress code to search the database by both month and date, but I don’t know how to get it working with permalinks. Can anyone help me?

  • You don’t have to have it working with permalinks. You can use non-permalinks in any of the links within your template tags and it will work perfectly. For more information see Linking Posts, Pages, and Categories.

    Thanks for the reply. I’m glad that it works without permalinks, I was just hoping someone had done this before. Like if I add a completely new template file and want to link to it using permalinks. Is there not a way to do that?
