how to get return label

    i am getting the return label in pdf when i generate tracking label and download but the return label only exist in pdf not in database table. but i want to access the return label. is there any way to access return label. any API, HOOK or ACTION. and please would you like to explain me how that pdf are generated on click which API of action working for it.
