    hi

i run a self-hosted site created on www.ads-software.com. the website is working fine, but when i posted my first blog post, i noticed the post does not automatically appear on wordpress.com’s reader. how do i get my blog posts to be visible on the reader (not in the reader of my followers), that is the reader where bloggers search for new blogs to follow?

i’ve searched the documents on feeds and the forums, but have not been able to figure it out.

    thanks
    fritz

  • Hi there, I see that your site is using the standalone WP (org) software.

The Reader is a feature for WordPressdotcom users, who can follow your site either by adding your site’s RSS feed in the Reader or by you adding the Jetpack Subscriptions module and widget to your self-hosted site to allow WordPressdotcom users to follow your site more easily.

    https://jetpack.com/support/subscriptions/

Regardless of the above, your self-hosted WP (org) site’s categories and tags do not connect to the WordPressdotcom Reader. That is a feature currently exclusive to sites hosted on WordPressdotcom.

    Hope that helps!

    thank you, roccio. much appreciated!

i am new to being on www.ads-software.com … perhaps there is an easy answer to this that i am not seeing, so please bear with me … as a blogger one wants exposure to people who don’t know of your site at all, where your blogs get posted for anyone to see, people who do not already know of your site (i.e. those who do not already have your sites’ RSS feed) – i understand from your response that one does not get this exposure on wordpress.com as a self-hosted www.ads-software.com, not even via the subscription module from jetpack? correct? if so, how does everyone else who have blog-sites created via www.ads-software.com get this exposure?

    thank you

    Hi @fritzloest,

Yes, you can get your site showed in the reader of wordpress.com ??

If you connect your site to WordPress.com with the Jetpack plugin, your posts will also be discoverable in the Reader’s Search feature and in related posts, and you can add a follow button to your site that people can click to follow your site on WordPress.com.

Hope that answer your questions ??
