How to get started?

You have to import your original strings. Go to your www.ads-software.com plugin page and then the admin section.

From there select “Generate POT file” and download a .pot file.

Then from your GlotPress project, select “Project Actions” and “Import Originals”.

A POT file is a PO file.

So I assume that as we add new strings over time, I have to manually generate a new .pot file and refresh things?

Yes, currently there is no automated import process due to the complexity of getting the originals from a variety of possible hosting providers.
