I have a client who has some products that are fresh and so can only be delivered locally in person. She has other’s that will be shipped by courier.

So what I need to to is hide certain products based on a physical address. I know I can change shipping zones based on postcode but how to hide it entirely based on a geographic location.
Using an IP for that won’t work since we need to to base off the shipping location.

  • The thing is the default route through a WooCommerce shop, and many others, is the customer selects the goods before entering their address. To do otherwise would require custom development.

Asking for an address up-front could put people off. Anyway, you won’t know what they’ve come to buy.

Geolocate may not be good enough for your purpose. My own geolocated location is in the right country but many miles from my physical address.

If you want to ask for an address up-front, that’s a job for a developer. Look for a WooCommerce expert:

    or post a job:

The non-code way I’ve seen this problem addressed is to produce a shortcode, content block or banner which describes the applicable area and let the customer decide whether they can buy. Shipping zones will catch them if they fail.

    Thanks for the info @lorro.

I didn’t think it was possible out of the box but thought it would be worth asking in case anyone knew of something.

I ended up going with the popup since the client doesn’t have the budget for development.
