How to get "username/email already" messages to show in RED

I’m using Forms with the User Registration option.
When the user tries registering with an email or user name that’s already on file, a message does appear below the appropriate field, but it’s in black, regular sized font, so it’s *very* hard for the casual user to see.

I’ve had to sprinkle “Watch for a message here,” “Watch for a message there” text fields all over my form so that they stop calling me when they encounter these types of collisions.

?? Any way to change the color, size, and bolding of those little “already exist” messages so I can make my form look less confusing?

In fact, getting a drop-down message as happens when the user tries to submit a form that’s missing a required field would be the best.
