    You don’t need to use this plugin if you have just one category template all you need to do is have that file named category.php and WordPress will do the rest, same goes for single posts just make sure your template is named single.php and WordPress will know to use it for all your single posts.

    This plugin is for using custom templates per gategory, meaning other then category.php

    Ummm, so do I need to make a custom single.php file and choose that template when I make a post assigned to the custom category? I did make the custom category template, but when I clicked on a post in the list, the post page looked the same as the other post pages and seems jarring. Sorry if I’m not quite getting what you are saying.
