How to hide Download from blog’s search result

  • Hi!
    I share a lot of printables on my website and use SDM to share them. When a reader uses the search tool on my blog he gets to a result page where my posts AND my SDM files appear. It looks a little messy and I’d rather my readers read my posts than be able to access the files directly.

    I’d like to hide my downloadable files from my blog’s search results.
    Is there a code or a setting to easily make these files (protected and public) hidden from search results?

    Hi, have you enabled the following feature PHP Dispatch or Redirect? You can also enable Only Allow Logged-in Users to Download feature to further protect the downloads.

    Thank you for your answer. I haven’t enabled PHP dispatch or redirect. Would that hide these files from my blog search results?
    Am I able to automatically activate these features for all my past files without having to edit my shortcodes individually?

    That should help. However you won’t know until you carry out a test.

    You need to go to each download file created and enable PHP Dispatch or Redirect feature in the download file settings.

    I have been using this for a quarterly digital publication. I thought it was working properly, but found direct links to the pdfd allowing access without the password. Did I forget something or perhaps am confused on the function?
    An example of a password protected download page is https://store.titanichistoricalsociety.org/sdm_downloads/commutator-230-cover-front/

    I would prefer not to provide a link to the pdf in a public form, but can email you it. The SDM download control panel section shows the pdf as password protected.
