How to highlight custom menu item?

Now this is an AMAZING plugin!

Now I would have a question:
on your demo site https://manos.malihu.gr/repository/page-scroll-to-id/demo/demo.html the custom menu item are highlighted when the scroll position is on that ID.

If I use a “normal” WP-Theme, is there a way to highlight the custom item items in a similar way? (So to say, if I scroll down the site, that on every ID-section the respective menu item shows a hover effect – hope I explained it right ??
