How to identify what the home page is called

    Is there a way to identify what the home / front page is called. I have searched through Pages and Posts to no avail. Its not called anything obvious like Home / Index / Front. Original site was created by someone else who is no longer contactable. All help gratefully received.

  • You can create a new page first. This page will be yours home page. Then follow the way appearance->customize and choose static front page</em. There you can choose your newly created page as front page.

    Have you tried to look under Settings->Reading in your Dashboard?

    Thanks for your replies. Just discovered the problem. The text I was looking to edit is actually in one of the Widget Areas.
