How to implement page hierarchy

I want to have an Articles page in my main navigation (ok, I know how to do that), and then create individual articles with the Articles page as the parent (I know how to do that, too). But I want the Articles page to contain navigation to its child pages. I can just put links on the page, but it seems that there should be some way to do this automatically using the parent-child hierarchical relationship.
