• Good afternoon, I am trying to improve the search bar that we have on our website. When you search for something, often it either doesn’t give the search results or brings up a totally wrong search result. How can I fix it? Thanks to anyone who will take the time to respond

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Do you have an example of unfavourable search results?

Do you already use any plugin that influences the search?

    Thank you for your response.
For example, one of the things we find very inconvenient is that in order to find a certain text/link you need to search it perfectly word-to-word otherwise it will just say “no search result found”. Most of our members dont search things word to word and as a result cant find what they are looking for and end up calling or emailing us. We want to improve the search bar so everyone is able to find info they need by typing a couple of keywords.

We do not have such a plugin. Is there one that you recommend to make this search bar better?

There are some plugins that extend the WordPress search. Have a look at them here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/tags/search/ – I have had relatively good experiences with “Relevanssi” so far. But I can’t tell if it meets your needs.

I think there must have been a misunderstanding in regard to which search bar I am referring to. I have attached a screenshot from our website and highlighted a search bar that I am referring to. Here is tthe screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0a65xhyjqu0rcc4/Screenshot%202022-09-12%20112522.png?dl=0

The search form is only a graphical representation that is usually provided by your theme. However, you are interested in the functionality when submitting the search form, which is provided by WordPress by default. You can customise this functionality with the plugin mentioned above. If you are only concerned about the style, contact your theme support.
