How to insert archive link in the sidebar under recent posts

    I really do hope someone out there can help me with a problem of displaying an archive within recent posts.

    What I want is to click on recent posts and when you land on this a link to the archive in the sidebar will appear. The recent posts should always be visisble throughout the site, but archive should only be visisble when you click on recent posts.

    But I am a bit confused how to approach this correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there a plugins for this function or should I edit the code?
