how to install a "non live" site

  • I’m trying to help a friend set up their website (transferring over to wordpress), but I don’t want to take their site down until the new setup is completely done.

    Can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this? To make the transition really smooth?

  • If you’re developing locally, install a WAMP package on your PC/Mac then install WordPress as usual.

    If you’re developing on the server, create a sub-domain, develop there and move it over when it’s ready ??
