• The plugin is installed and activated. The next step is to move the file “google-news-sitemap.xml” into blog root directory and CHMOD to 777 so it is writable.

This is the step I have problem with.
Can someone please help me to understand where the blog root directory is and how to change the permission to 777.
The site is on my MAMP for now before I upload it to the server. Right click on the file does not give me the option to change the permission. What else should I do?

    Thanks a lot!

[No bumping, thank you. If it’s that urgent, consider hiring someone.]

  • The blog root directory is where the wp-admin, wp-includes and wp-content folders are.

How to chmod depends on the operating system, and what tools your host provides.

Thanks a lot. I figured out the permission on mac too. It is by going into “Get Info” and double clicking on the permissions to get more options. It is a bit tricky because at first it says “no access”, but if you double click it or triple click it, it gives the other options for “read and write”.
Hope this helps others like me who might get confused by mac permissions.
