  • Thank you.

    How to install it?
it is showing no plugin found

So how are we supposed to know if this version 3.5/5.0 is actually safe and not backdoored?

There is no way you can ever know it about any software product you use.

And I have absolutely no wish to convince you about plugin safety. You know, I never had any profit from it. If you are cautious – just don’t use it.

It’s nothing personal, as there have been other plugin sales where the original WP account has been part of the transaction. In this case it looks safe so I have installed the other version.

One question, I noticed an update to 4.3 appeared right before the plugin was removed, and the Wordfence security notice included this note:

“Even though one of them, WP No External Links, has been updated to remove the backdoor, it has been closed, so it will never be updated again in the future.”

Does that mean 4.3 is safe?

Version 4.3 was fixed by WordPress support and I am not sure that there aren’t backdoors left (checking it requires a certain amount of time) – that’s why I used my old and stable version.

By the way, I am very upset that WordPress support refused to give plugin back to me (original developer) and I don’t think I will ever publish WordPress plugins here again.

Thanks, and do you have a ZIP copy of 4.3 available so that I can give it a run-through? All I have is 4.22 ZIP and an option to download and update to 4.3.

As for the plugin issue, can’t you just recode a bit and introduce a “new” version? I know that means you lose the original page, but this has been done (to great success) with other plugins.

I am afraid you will have to use SVN client to download it from WordPress respository. I could do it for you but someone will surely expect a backdoor there ?? Try TortoiseSVN, it is a very friendly svn client.

I don’t want to publish plugin under new name because I no longer have time to support it – that was interesting for me 9 years ago… That’s exactly why I transfered it to another developer and I was glad that improvements were made… Untill guys from wordfence contacted me.

I am sure that there are many other good plugins like this one. And I don’t mind if someone takes over further development of this one.

    Ooooh, that one hurt.

But thanks for the SVN tip, and I seem to have downloaded them all from 0.03 to 4.3.

Sorry, I didn’t mean it was you – I just don’t want to publish any links that can be misinterpreted by next topic readers.
