• I have a blogger account, and I just started blogging there, but I decided to get my own domain and get my own hosting. I just purchased a site from namecheap and then I purchased hosting services from ipage, I tried installing wordpress from the site and it failed..

    Got errors like

HTTP Error 500.0 – Internal Server Error
    Internal Server Error

IIS received the request; however, an internal error occurred during the processing of the request. The root cause of this error depends on which module handles the request and what was happening in the worker process when this error occurred.
IIS was not able to access the web.config file for the Web site or application. This can occur if the NTFS permissions are set incorrectly.
IIS was not able to process configuration for the Web site or application.
The authenticated user does not have permission to use this DLL.
The request is mapped to a managed handler but the .NET Extensibility Feature is not installed.

    Things you can try:
Ensure that the NTFS permissions for the web.config file are correct and allow access to the Web server’s machine account.
Check the event logs to see if any additional information was logged.
Verify the permissions for the DLL.
Install the .NET Extensibility feature if the request is mapped to a managed handler.
Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code. For more information about creating a tracing rule for failed requests, click here.

I don’t understand any of the terms. ?? How do I start making my site with wordpress? The website that I purchased was sagoyism.com

    Pls help me

  • I’m not too familiar with ipage, but I suggest that you search google for, “how to install wordpress with ipage”. You’ll get several results specific to your host, and I see a few videos in the results that should help even further.

500 errors are generally caused by misconfigurations in your .htaccess file or bad permissions on your files / folders. I’m more familiar with Linux, however your host is running Windows (based upon the IIS mention in the error). Contacting your host, ipage, about the error message will probably be your best bet if the support videos in the google search doesn’t help.

Good luck sagoy, hope this helps!

@ sagoy, the problem is the host; they have you on an IIS Windows server. Ask them to change your account to linux. The 500 error has to do with no .htaccess support under WIndows.

iPage can be a problematic host. You might want to change; see https://www.ads-software.com/hosting/ for recommended hosts.

If I do cancel, I’m not going to get my money back, will I?

I contacted their tech support and we figured out that it’s a DNS problem with namecheap. I had to point the name servers to ipage.

Now we have another problem, the site and wordpress application is working now, but on some random occasions throughout the day, but this sounds like a problem with our ISP since a friend of mine using a different ISP can still access the site. Bummer.
