@acuaron – What operations are you using to modify the thumbnails?

I tried every possible settings and I didnt find any way how to keep original aspect ration of images in thumbnails. That means: horitozntal pictures will have horizontal format and vertical pictures will have vertical format. The ideal way would be if the images would have fixed height, but different widht (according to their original aspect ratio). Is this possible?

@acuaron – Thumbnails can be re-sized when displayed and/or modified as a Bulk Action … cropping can be applied in all cases but you have not specifically said which operation you have used nor the details of what settings you used when you performed the operation.

If we understood your actions then we may be able to help you get this sorted out.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. Lets say my settings are default.

This is how the gallery looks by default (all thumbnails have the same aspect ratio, same width and height):

What I want to do is something like this (some thumbnails have different aspect ratio than others, so the original aspect ratio of all images stays intact – the images have the same height, but different width):

Lets say I just installed NextGEN gallery. What should I do to achieve this? Thanks!

@acuaron – By default, thumbnails are cropped which creates the uniform aspect ratio.

To change the behavior for new gallery/image uploads go under Gallery > Other Options > Thumbnail Options and change the “Set fixed dimension” option to No.

To change existing galleries/thumbnails you will need to create new thumbnails under the Manage Galleries bulk actions … to change existing displays you will need to modify the thumbnail size option under the customization accordion panel of each specific display.

    Thanks!
