Hi I am new to wordpress and need some help.

I have a sample site set up here:
    https://1shothost.com/maura/

I do not want new posts to appear on the Home page.

I set the site up in pages and did not use the category widget because we wanted the categories to be what we have showing on the top nav bar.

Now if I make a post it shows on what we have as our Home page, how can I make it not do this?

Did I set the sample site up wrong should I have used categories instead?

This is not going to be a blog site but rather an informational support site where people can find help and search by zip code etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You
    Da_Moma

  • Create a new page that will act as your home page

    Go to Admin/Settings/Reading.

Under ‘Front page displays’, select ‘a static page’. Select your new Home page from the dropdown and then Save Changes.

But now I have two Home links on the top nav bar how do I remove the first one?

    Thank You

You may need to edit the file that handles your top navigation bar. Could be header.php but without knowing the theme, I couldn’t say which file for sure.

How are you handling the links in the sidebar?

    esmi Hi,
I edited the header.php thank you again so very much!
I am doing the site map with a widget – ordering by pages.

I am really liking how wordpress is working out, I know I have a ton to learn but so far it is nice.

    Thank You again,
