how to left align thumbnail in list of posts?

hi,
i seem to have to repeatedly work out how to make thumbnail images align left in lists of posts using the catlist plugin. i have it working fine now on one site, but have just discovered that on another site, where it WAS working fine, an update (don’t know for sure but i’m guessing the latest WP update that happened automatically this week, or a theme update) has broken it.

in the list of news posts, the thumbnails which used to be nicely aligned to the left are now not aligned at all, & it’s showing up with the heading (in small text), the date, the image & then the excerpt.

i’ve tried searching for the solution, since i know that previously i have put additional css code in; i tried copying it from the other site where it’s behaving as it should (this site has a different theme), but that didn’t work. i’ve read the documentation for the plugin & haven’t found anything there that’s helped.

it’s very frustrating & seems like it should be an easy thing to do, but this not the first time that i’ve ended up spending a lot of time without solving it ??
