Hi Everyone, I’ve been researching the documentation for Gutenberg Theme Support.

One feature that I can’t figure out is how to limit the Paragraph Custom Size slider range.

Currently text can be resized to a massive 100px. I would like to create a more practical upward limit of 48px.

How is it currently limited to a range of 12px – 100px; can I override that with my own setting?

    Hiya,

At this time it does not appear that you can modify the ranges of this slider. The minimum and maximum limits are defined in the FontSizePicker component which has these values set to fixed numbers for now (I can’t say if that will change or not, if there’s a good case for it I would recommend making a ticket for it with the use case and such for consideration.

    Hi @josephdickson,
If you do create a use case ticket, let me know! I think that you should be able to set this in the customizer, if not somewhere in your theme with some sort of easy configuration file. There are many situations where you would not want the user to be able to override a well-crafted design with absurd type sizes.

Sometimes good design is all about limitations and leading the naive or busy content creator into appropriate choices. If we give them to many options, there lies confusion, and the design integrity could be lost.

In many publishing workflows, letting the user choose anything other than standard html markup, i.e. inline css, can cause spaghetti code and could cause layout problems as the design responds to various device sizes.
