    Hey Martin!

I’ve sent you a couple of replies via your email ticket you opened, but I’m not sure they are getting through!

You want to check the Advanced options, under the Display options tab. We have options there that help to control the number of words displayed before the Read More link is displayed. I believe that is what you’re looking for!

Of course, be sure you are using the most recent version of the plugin, otherwise my response might not make any sense!

    All the best,
    Richard

    hello dear Richard,

tried out all the options . with no success

tried out different values for the “word-count” (see below) – the different values i entered did not have any effect.

can you please have a closer look what goes wrong here

    see the page: https://www.literaturen.org

i need to have *less* words below the image.
i did not manage to customize the settings accordingly

    (see the picture above)

    love to hear from you

well dear richard – it would be glad to hear from you.

i __ still __ struggle with the plugin; it cannot be configured accordingly.

see the above mentioned image: the text of the excerpt is quite tooo – long – ugly long.

    love to hear from you

After a bunch of support-requests i have given up the work on the issue – at least for the moment. I need to have a live site – that runs with plugins that are configurable.

Dear Richard: if you can demonstrate the work of the “limitation” of the excerpt on a online-demo i would be glad.

in the meantime i try to do a workaround – in order to go ahead with the site.

love to hear from you again – and yeS: i look forward to a demonstration-page that shows the features…

    Hey say!

I sent this to you via our ticketing system in the support thread we have established, but I also wanted to post the reply here to be sure you see it. I’ve removed the private information from the public reply.

I sincerely apologize for delays. We have just wrapped up the Christmas holiday and are about to be celebrating the New Year, but I was able to get into your site this morning and do some testing.

The reason the text is so long is because the text in your feed is coming from a Caption or a Link, and is therefore being mapped to the Description field of our CPT. The Message is mapped to the Body field, and that is what the word limit controls.

So, in the long term, we likely need to add some more options to the plugin to allow you to control the length of these items, as well. In our next update we will add the option to control the length of this field, as well as the ability to edit this field as we have added to your copy today.

For the short term, I have patched the plugin on your site to allow you to edit the Description of the Facebook Posts, so that you can control the words that are displayed there. You can do so by going to Edit and Facebook Post, such as the one at this link: *removed for privacy*, and then scrolling to the Facebook Post Information meta box and Editing the Description field to your liking. We will include this option in the next update, so you don’t need to worry about updating the plugin and losing information.

I hope this helps you understand what was going on and helps you to move forward!

    All the best,
    Richard
