how to link categories to language-specific pages?

i have a multi-language website (English/Italian):www.freereporter.info. When I select a category in the dropdown menu in the Italian version of my website I am always redirected to the category page of the English version. How I can fix this problem and have selected categories redirected to the Italian pages?
