I am trying to comply with the new GDPR rules on my Adsense account.
According to an email I received from Adsense, it says I have the option to create a GDPR message using a Google Certified CMP. But I can’t find this option anywhere in my account.

I know that Cookie Yes is certified, and can see it in Google’s list of certified CMPs.

But how do I connect it to my Adsense account?

Can you provide any clues to help me use Cookie Yes to comply with the new rules?

I finally got a pop-up on my Adsense dashboard with the option: ‘I want to create a GDPR message, using a?Google-certified CMP.?If I don’t publish one by 16 January 2024, please publish my GDPR message for me using Google’s CMP. I understand that I can change my choice of CMP and my message at any time’.

I ticked the box and the message dissapeared.

But now I get this red warning at the top of my dashboard: Remember to publish your GDPR message using a Google-certified CMP to continue showing AdSense ads on your site in the EEA and the UK. If you don’t publish it by 16 January 2024, we’ll publish one for you.

So, how do I publish it? I can’t find any option to do so.

    Hi @bobsled & @seowebua,

Please make sure that you have connected to CookieYes and enabled the option?Support IAB TCF v2.2?from CookieYes Dashboard > Cookie Banner > General. After enabling this, you can also enable the option?Support Google’s Additional Consent Mode. If you still face any issues after doing these steps, please share us your site URL so that we could closely examine the issue on your site and provide you with a working solution.

Thanks for replying. But unfortunately, I don’t see either of these options in the plugin on any of my sites. I am updated to version 3.1.3. Can you advise how to fix this?

    Hi @bobsled,

It seems like you are on the legacy UI of our plugin if you don’t find the option to connect to CookieYes. In that case you will have to migrate to our Revamped UI to support IAB TCF. You can find the instructions to migrate on this thread.

    (@bobsled)

Ah! Okay, thanks. I’ll try the migration later today. If I have any issues, I’ll get back to you. Thanks for you support!

I took a quick look on one of my sites. It seems that the two options you mentioned earler are only available with the premium version. Is that correct?

    @bobsled,

Yes, these two options are available as premium feature.

I’m a bit surprised. I read this post a few weeks ago and assumed it applied to all users of Cookie Yes. https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/certified-cpm/

It made no mention that it was a premium feature only. I have six small sites, so the additional expense is considerable.

I’ve just went to your site and looked at feature comparison/pricing. I can see “Pre-built IAB TCF v2.2 Banner” is not available for free or for basic $10 a month (!), only pro $20 a month and above. Does this refer to the premium features you’ve mentioned (and so to be compliant with adsense changes) at $20 a month?

Similarly to @bobsled I’ve very surprised that this functionality is pay walled based on all previous comments made on this forum about the CMP certification. Considering that this forum is for the support of free versions of plugins only, I would expect a heads up that the free version of the plugin simply cannot support Google’s changes regarding certified CMPs. Unless I’ve completely misunderstood your comments above…

I agree with @nealbo in that my understanding is that this support forum is only for options available with the free version.

In the community guidlines, (https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines/) it states:

“If you are a vendor and observe someone asking questions about your paid plugin or theme, please direct them towards your own support resources.”

I believe this should have applied when Cookie Yes announced its certified-CPM status. Users should have been made aware (clearly) that it was a premium option.

    Hi @bobsled & @nealbo,

We are extremely sorry for the misunderstanding you had regarding the premium feature “Support IAB TCF”. We have already listed this as a premium feature in our plugin page’s Details tab. If you have any further queries or concerns regarding this feature, please raise a ticket here and we will happy to help you.

    @cookieyesteam

I wonder how many people using the free plugin will be stung in Jan when their AdSense revenue drops to zero because they have the same “misunderstanding” that we had. You announced in multiple threads in this support forum for the free version of the plugin that it is now Google CMP certified & compliant, with no mention that this does not actually apply to the free version (that is the sole focus of this forum) at all.

It also seems that one of my previous messages in this thread and all of the messages from @seowebua have been deleted … unsure of the reasoning?

Regardless, it’s all a null point for me now anyway. Unfortunately looks like a move over to the Google Adsense native GDPR message for me. It’s a shame as I genuinely found this plugin useful.

@nealbo the reason to delete my comments was “If you need support then per the forum guidelines please start your own topic” , even so my question was the same, so whatever..
Thankfully to this thread I now understand that there is no way for me to use this free plugin further (I will move to Adsense native message).
Good thing that now we have clarification from the team that it’s a premium feature, too bad that it wasn’t announced conveniently in wp dashboard or changelog or anywhere really..

Well, at least @cookieyesteam has cleared up any misunderstandings now. But it means a change of plan for me. I’ll continue to use Cooke Yes, because it has been a terrific plugin for many years, and it serves its purpose well of asking for general cookie consent.

But I’ll have to use the native Adsense message along side it. It means that some of my users will need to consent twice, which is incovenient.

Luckily, most of my traffic is from outside the EU, so the majority of my site visitors will not see the Adsense message. But my UK users will be affected. But only if they land on pages with Adsense ads.

So yes, it’s all a bit inconvenient. But it’s probably better to remember that it’s the EU that is forcing this on us all. App and plugin developers, as well as site owners, are only trying to comply as best they can.

    Hi @seowebua, @nealbo,

We understand that you were expecting this feature to be available for free, and appreciate your feedback and questions. To clarify the same, we have already added the “Support IAB TCF v2.2” option in our free plugin with premium badge and didn’t add this feature in our changelog as it is not available in the free version. After all as it is supported only in our Revamped plugin, this option won’t be available in the Legacy UI.
