I’ve read a number of the longer threads regarding showing pdf images and am using the featured image method.

On my home page I want to show the latest newsletter with an image and no caption or title and this works perfectly. However I also want a list of all previous newsletters and the thumbnails are showing instead of the titles.

I’ve tried removing mla_viewer=true and also changing it to false (I don’t really know what I’m doing!) but no joy. I’m sure it’s really simple and I’m just being stupid but if you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

    Many thanks

Thanks for your question and the details regarding your experiments so far. The solution is straightforward, but when I tested it I found that you have uncovered a defect in the current MLA version.

The solution should be as simple as adding a size=none parameter to your shortcode and removing the mla_viewer parameter. However, the “Featured Image” code in the current MLA version ignores the size parameter and supplies a thumbnail image anyway.

I will fix that, upload a new Development Version shortly and post an update here when it is available.

Thanks for uncovering an MLA defect and for your patience in awaiting the fix.

I have released MLA version 2.21, which contains a fix for the problem you uncovered. Once you update you should be able to use size=none to get the results you want.

You can also use the mla_link_text parameter to compose alternative text if you want something other than the document title.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems with the new release or further questions about alternatives to the Featured Image “thumbnails”. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.
