How to list specific products on a page or page template?

My end goal is to create a page template to where on the backend we can search for products inside of the store and add them to the page being created. That way we can create custom “kits” on the front end where customers can add products individually to their cart and they can see all the parts/products that make up that “kit”.
If we had some type of search field on the backend to build out this list inside the page… How would we get them displayed on the front end? I assumed we could do it by product ID or maybe SKU? But I couldn’t find any documentation on how to list products by anything other than category, tag, or attribute.
(Note: I’ve extensively checked out all the product bundle, composite products, product tables plugins – and all of these plugins end up falling short in some way. Which is why I’ve started looking into getting this custom built.)
