How to lock content after reading 3 articles?

Hi there,

I am developing a media website and I am curious how can I lock content.
How to lock content after reading 3 articles?

My goal is to offer readers to consume 2 or 3 articles for free. Then I want to lock the content and offer payment to continue reading.

Valid examples of my end goal are Medium.com, The Times, New Yorker, and etc,

I have found so far a few tools like:

But those don’t serve my purpose.
Do you guys have any recommendations for a plugin or this is only done with code?
