• I often have multiple, different image galleries in a single post, and all of them use a
    lightbox slideshow. This works exactly as I want:

    <a href="https://mathewhallphoto.com/allthoseprettypictures/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHSC14075.jpg" rel="GalleryA"><img src="https://mathewhallphoto.com/allthoseprettypictures/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHSC14075-250x250.jpg" alt="Santiago city." width="250" height="250" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-263" /></a>

    <div class="fancybox-hidden">

    <a href="https://mathewhallphoto.com/allthoseprettypictures/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHSC14122.jpg" rel="GalleryA"><img src="https://mathewhallphoto.com/allthoseprettypictures/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHSC14122-250x250.jpg" alt="The art and architecture of Cerro Santa Lucia in Santiago." width="250" height="250" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-273" /></a>

    <a href="https://mathewhallphoto.com/allthoseprettypictures/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHSC14111.jpg" rel="GalleryA"><img src="https://mathewhallphoto.com/allthoseprettypictures/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHSC14111-250x250.jpg" alt="The art and architecture of Cerro Santa Lucia in Santiago." width="250" height="250" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-270" /></a>

    <a href="https://mathewhallphoto.com/allthoseprettypictures/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHSC14114.jpg" rel="GalleryA"><img src="https://mathewhallphoto.com/allthoseprettypictures/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CHSC14114-250x250.jpg" alt="The art and architecture of Cerro Santa Lucia in Santiago." width="250" height="250" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-271" /></a>

    </div>

    One thumbnail opens to 4 images (1 link + 3 hidden) in a slideshow using the rel=”GalleryA”. A second, different slideshow could use rel=”GalleryB”

    My question is how can I shortcode the 3 hidden images using a Custom Gallery? I’ve tried this (and a few variations) and it doesn’t work:

    <div class="fancybox-hidden">
    [gallery link="file" size="full" rel="GalleryA" ids="270,271,273"]
    </div>

    Can this be done? It would be faster and easier to just make a Custom Gallery and add the rel= once rather than have to add it to each image. Thanks!

  • Have you tried using the Easy Fancybox plugin? It has a setting that lets you apply the fancybox modal to all linked images without needing the rel= as part of the link, and fully supports WP Galleries.

    TrishaM,
    Yes I am using easy-fancybox. The hangup is when you have multiple different galleries in the same post, the fancybox slideshow cycles through all of the images on the post non-stop, regardless of whether they are in different galleries. I am using the rel= to end one slideshow, then when the reader gets to another, it operates independently.
