How to make a latest news page

Hi Folks,

Im new-ish to word press, I had a website a few months back and someone told me how I could create a latest news page along with putting a widget on the side bar.

It allowed me to make a latest news page and just keep adding posts to the page this then showed up in the side bar under ” latest news ” Ideally I am looking to have a tab ” latest news ” with posts on it where I can manually update the posts and they will show in the widget bar not to sure what kind of widget/plugin to use either!

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
