  • That’s actually a terrible idea, for a lot of reasons. There’s a reason that plugin hasn’t been updated for a while.

    The fact is, that once people realize what you’re doing, you’re more likely to lose them. People don’t like being manipulated. The better strategy is to not disable right-click. A lot of people (myself included), will simply right-click what looks like an interesting link, open in a new tab, jump over and read it (or at least skim it), and then close the tab when we’re finished and we’re right back in your site. Or, we click the link, read the things, and then right-click and select “Back”.

    Engaging content + lack of manipulation = how to keep visitors.
