• Hi guys

I’ve been toying around with the idea of making a gaming community, and i wanted to do it with WordPress.

Now, i was having some trouble setting up Multi-site, but got around it by adding subdomainds via my webhotel.

Now i have my website, https://Empathy-eu.com – and i want to have the different games as subdomains, an example could be World of warcraft related content at https://wow.empathy-eu.com

Now my question is, how do i make the frontpage like https://eu.battle.net, where when i enter the website and i get an option of choosing one of the five blizzard games to go to, and then that’ll lead me to a subdomain?

So if i click the Wow “button” on https://eu.battle.net, then i go to eu.battle.net/wow

And with my website, i wanna be able to click a custom button, to go to a subdomain. Is there any free theme capable of doing that?

  • When you are talking sub-domains, each is a separate website, now with multi-site you get to centralise their management, but they are still essentially distinct websites. This may be what you want, on your “landing” frontpage, you would put a menu with custom links to the game page, with a full http link name.

Multi-site may complicate things which you may want to do cross site, such as user registration and login, may be able to do this with cookies.

I tried setting up Multi-site, but it always gave me an error after the .htcaccess part. As in when i put in the stuff in the .htcaacess text, i get an error, and can’t login to my website.

What i did instead, was manually create the subdomains, with the thought of adding an individual WordPress installation on each subdomain.

Is there a way to add different themes in multi-site, and in that case, how do i go about fixing that error?

Sorry, I regret to inform you that as yet I have not been able to get multi-site working either. I tried a while back on my self hosted site (localhost) on Linux, might try it again when time permits.
