How to make hi-res files available for download
-
To make high resolution photo files available for download, follow this procedure:
1. Enable ‘sourcekeeping’ by ticking the following boxes in the Photo Albums -> Settings admin page:
Table IX-H1, IX-H2 -H4.2. Now upload a new photo. Say you upload a photo with the name My_photo.jpg into album number 7 that has the name My Album.
3. If you look with an ftp program you will find the original photo as …/wp-content/uploads/wppa-source/album-7/My_photo.jpg
4. If you now add to the description of the photo the keyword w#pl you will get a link in the description that looks like:
https://www.mysite.com/wp-content/wppa-pl/My-album/My_photo.jpg
.5. If you want a better readable permalink, e.g.
album
instead ofwppa-pl
. you can set that in Table IX-H14.6. If you want a different location for the source files, you can set that in Table IX-H3. FIRST READ THE HELP of that setting!
7. If your source files are too big in pixelsize for the server to create the display and/or thumbnail files, first upload the – on your local pc – downsized photos as described above, after that, ftp the really – big – originals over the existing files in the wppa-source/album-xx/ folders. The names of the big files must be exactly the same as the ‘small’ initial sourcefiles.
