• I’m trying to update my homepage to look like a lifestyle/travel blog. Here’s my peg: ironwulf.net. This website has the category view and ‘read more’ under each posts. Any one can help me? Thanks!

    Hi @projectgora,

Great news – the Block Editor would absolutely let you set up something with a similar kind of layout to that example site. There’s a couple of steps you’d need to follow:

Create a new Page with the layout you’d like
You can start by going to Pages > Add new and creating a new page. Using the Block Editor tools you’d be able to set up a page with similar content to that example site.

Specifically it looks as though that site has the following blocks going down the page.

    • A Heading Block
    • A block which includes the image, title, and read more button. You may even find if you click the insert [+] button at the top left, and go to ‘patterns’ there is a whole pattern there you can insert.
    • A Heading Block
    • A block with latest Instagram posts (I suspect this is from a plugin)
    • A Heading Block
    • A ‘Query Loop’ block to show the latest posts.

There’s more blocks going down the page – but you get the idea. You can set up your page using whichever blocks and layout you’d like – and Publish it with a name like ‘Home’

Set your new Home Page to show when the site loads
At the moment your site homepage loads your latest blog posts by default – but we can change it to use the new page you set up instead.

If you head to Settings > Reading in your admin menu on the left – you’ll see a setting for ‘Home Page Displays’.

You can set that to be ‘Static Page’ and then select the new page you just created. Once that is done and the change is saved – your newly created page will be the first thing people see when they head to your site.

I hope that helps – you can also check the full instructions for setting that ‘Static’ page to be used in these instructions here.
